Day Trips You Can Enjoy from Culduff Cottages

The Wild Atlantic Way is on our doorstep, cited by The Lonely Planet as the must do in Ireland.

You have heard about cycling the Greenway, why not just come and do it? The 42km Great Western Greenway is the longest off-road, traffic free cycling and walking trail in Ireland. Why not escape the bustle of urban life?

Why not take an island day trip to Inisturk or Clare Island (the castle home of Grace O'Malley, the Pirate Queen) and see what island life is really like, or perhaps take a scenic cruise or sea kayak tour on Killary Fjord (one of Ireland's only 3 fjords).

Why not plan a family day of action, activity and adventure in an adventure centre, such as Delphi, Killary or Achill Outdoor and reward yourself afterwards with a relaxing meal in many of the excellent local seafood restaurants

Why not take the kids on a fun filled family day to Westport House? They offer a whole family day out with rides, slide, boats, trains, go karts, indoor soft play area, pitch & putt, bouncy castles and playgrounds. In addition, Westport House provides both fun and learning through its Grace O’Malley Children’s Tour, Dungeon Experience, funny mirror, Paint your own Pottery and more.

If festivals or concerts are what inspire you then you have a lot to choose from, the Galway Arts Festival or the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival, the Sligo Fleadh, or the Bonniconlon agricultural festival (second only in Ireland to the Tullamore Agricultural Show) are among many of the festivals and concerts.

Even thought of walking a pilgrim path? why deal with all the crowds on the Camino, you can walk Mayo's own pilgram path from Ballintubber Abbey (which is 16 years older than Westminster Abbey) to the pilgrim mountain of Croagh Patrick - you are guaranteed to come away feeling a little different about what is important in life.

If spa treatments and some retail therapy is what floats your boat, well you won't be disappointed with the excellent spa and shopping towns of Galway, Sligo & Westport on our doorstep

Ever wanted to learn to surf? go sea angling? watch seals in their natural habitat? visit Lissadell House, climb Ben Bulbin, visit scenic waterfalls and get lost in acres of National Parks then Culduff Cottages is within a short driving distance

If discovering Ireland's ancient history and culture is of interest, then a day trip to the Ceide Fields where you can discover how people lived in Ireland over 5,000 years ago. Or a day trip to the National Museum of Country Life is a must see, where a way of life from previous generations is brought to you in vivid detail

All of this and much, much more is available to see when you stay with us in Culduff Cottages.
